ABOUT

Zoë is an award-winning writer & actor from Sheffield, based in Glasgow. Her plays have toured Scotland and performed in venues such as the Traverse Theatre, Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree, Eden Arts, Assembly Roxy, the Byre Theatre, and the Mareel Arts Centre in Shetland.

Her work is genre-led, tragi-comic and thematically wide-ranging, though she’s particularly interested in exploring the intersection between climate crisis, class warfare, and human survival. Zoë was raised on Miyazaki, Star Wars and Ursula Le Guin, and she still gets most excited about a great genre story with characters you love… along with a monster or two.

Her solo show ‘Gracie & the Start of the End of the World (Again)’ won the Assembly ART Award, the Scottish Theatre Bright Spark Award, and was nominated for the BBC/Popcorn Award at the Edinburgh Fringe. She is a Grand Prize winner of The Script Lab’s Free Screenplay Contest, from over 11,700 international entries.

Zoë’s writing has been developed or supported by the TV Foundation, the National Theatre of Scotland, Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, New Earth Theatre, Animatic @ Glasgow Film Festival, MySMASHMedia, Le Groupe Oueste, the Tron Theatre, Imaginate, the Alpine Fellowship, and Writers at Sea. She has been commissioned by Hopscotch Theatre, Imaginate, Visible Fictions, Independent Arts Projects, and the BFI Network/Screen Scotland.

When she’s not making up stories or pretending to be someone else, you can find Zoë out in the mountains, stomach to the ground, taking photos of tiny mushrooms.
